Peter Millar is a man of many parts: award-winning foreign correspondent, travel author, regular reviewer of thrillers on these pages. And all too occasionally he produces a novel in the genre as well.
His previous effort, the highly enjoyable Bleak Midwinter (2001), combined fears about germ warfare with a re-emergence of the Black Death in Oxford.
