The Discovering China series aims to serve as a window to Chinese culture for people around the world, helping them to learn about the country and develop and interest in it. This edition focuses on the tradition of Chinese auspices, which is as much a pragmatic design of decoration which endeavours to eliminate taboos as it is an expression of the wish to invoke fortune and pursue auspice. Auspice traditions mirror Chinese philosophies and also involve craftsmanship such as statues, painting and architecture.
