Hansib Publications

Hansib Publications
Hansib Publications was founded in 1970 as a means to publish magazines and newspapers for Britain's burgeoning West Indian communities. In the early 1980s, the publishing house included Britain's south Asian communities as part of its remit. Towards the end of the 1980s, Hansib ventured into book publishing for its target audiences and has since published more than 200 titles. For more than twenty-five years it has published a variety of formats - from pulp fiction paperbacks to lavishly illustrated coffee-table books. The company prides itself on encompassing a wide range of subjects within such genres as history, sport, cooking, memoir, politics, social science, travel, poetry, literature, music, religion, media and biography. The former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Sir Shridath Ramphal, stated that, “Hansib’s catalogue speaks eloquently of the range and quality of its publications, many of which would never have made it to the bookshelves but for its willingness, indeed wilfulness, in taking commercial risks to make this happen.”
