“Hooray for Honno!” Sarah Waters. Honno Welsh Women’s Press is based in Aberystwyth and is committed to a future of publishing quality women’s writing from Wales. It was set up in 1986 as a co-operative by a group of volunteers, and crowd funded by over 500 women. Its authors over the years have included Sian James, Malorie Blackman, Tessa Hadley, Lindsay Ashford, Patricia Duncker, Kitty Sewell and many more, and there have been a number of high-profile awards. It publishes the influential Welsh Women’s Classics series, which brings back into print great women writers from Wales’ past. It also publishes the Honno Voices, a series of non-fiction anthologies of different eras in history that bring the past to life through first-hand testimonies. Honno encourages new writing through its range of fiction and non-fiction anthologies and publishes an impressive range of literate and literary women’s fiction including crime, romance, historical and others.
