Velocity Press

Velocity Press publishes electronic music and club culture books: memoir, history, contemporary polemics, illustrated books, and beautifully produced limited editions. We aim to create a catalogue that feels like a trusted record label in its integrity and vision and delivers exciting and vital voices and stories to serious electronic music fans who enjoy good literature.

We want to create an environment where music writing can experiment and take on literary value. We publish books in a daring and intelligent way, taking risks and spotting the opportunities other publishers may not see. We want Velocity Press to be the first place a music writer or an artist thinks of when they consider writing a book.

Velocity’s owner, Colin Steven, is an avid music fan with vast experience and knowledge of dance music. He co-promoted legendary jungle club Ruffneck Ting in Bristol during the 90s and was label manager of the record label of the same name. He also co-founded award-winning magazine Knowledge in 1994 and published Brian Belle-Fortune’s seminal drum & bass book All Crews in 2004.
