Ventil Verlag was founded in May 1999. It emerged from the Jens Neumann publishing house and Martin Büsser’s testcard book series. At the beginning of 2004, Ventil Verlag and Bender Verlag merged to form Ventil Verlag KG, and in 2013 the name was changed to Ventil Verlag UG (limited liability) & Co. KG. Ventil Verlag publishes books beyond the mainstream, whether about music, film, politics, etc., whether fiction, non-fiction or intermediate forms. The content focuses on subculture, film and pop history, cultural studies, social theory and young literature.
